#Knitting Fail

In Baby Knits on August 13, 2012 at 10:23 pm

I was over ambitious.

I bought the yarn, needles and pattern, thinking, how hard could it be?

It took me over a year and a half to finish, and it’s deformed.  The arms are too big, the body’s too small…

…………………..but I can’t bring myself to throw it away, or unravel it…

…………………………………………or put it on baby.

60 Quick Baby Knits

This is a great book for beginner knitters (like me!).  Plus as a bonus, there is usually leftover yarn to make other projects.  Here is my first knitted dress and booties.  They’re not perfect, but I am really happy with how they turned out!

I picked up the yarn and vintage buttons from The Loop Craft Cafe.

Vintage Baby Knits

My grandmother was a wonderful knitter, she taught me how to knit when I was 10 years old.  However it wasn’t until baby was born that I really appreciated knitting for what it is.

I inherited all her knitting supplies, but I couldn’t remember how to knit.  (Youtube, thank you for all the tutorials!)

Here are some of her pieces which she knit for me when I was a baby, which has since inspired me to take up knitting once again.  (Also, how cool is it to be able to have your baby wear what your baby clothes?)

Luckily, hand knits never go out of style.
